The financial worry of a medical bill is a real concern for many
of us and, not surprisingly, often causes a great deal of anxiety. There are many questions a patient may ask, including:
- How much will it cost?
- How much will I personally have to pay for services?
- Are there flexible payment options and/or financial
assistance?
Concern about a medical bill should never get in the way of
receiving essential health services. TMC provides the best
quality care to everyone, regardless of one's financial situation.
Our financial counseling staff is prepared to
become a patient's partner. Our counselors determine what each
patient's financial responsibility is, and then seek the best
options to help them meet their obligation. Financial counselors can determine eligibility for TMC discount,
set up payment plans, advise on government programs assistance and answer
all hospital billing questions.
TMC Financial Counseling Center (FCC) Representatives are
responsible for determining if a resident of Kansas City or Jackson
County, Missouri is eligible for discounted medical services. The
guidelines are based on residency, income and family size. The
discount for Jackson County and Kansas City residents only is based
on up to 400 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Free care is
given up to 200 percent of Federal Poverty Guidelines. A sliding
scale is utilized when income is between 200 percent and 400 percent
of Federal Poverty Guidelines.
Financial counselors are available seven days a week to visit with
patients admitted to TMC to determine eligibility for various
financial programs. Outpatient counselors are available, on
the first floor in the TMC Hospital Hill main lobby and on the first
floor inside the clinic entrance at TMC Lakewood, to assist patients
Monday through Friday.
