Shauna R. Roberts, M.D., C.P.E.
Corporate Quality Medical Director
Shauna Roberts, M.D., C.P.E, is the TMC corporate medical director
for quality and director, clinical outcomes at the University of
Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, Department of Medicine.
Previously, Dr. Roberts was medical director of the Genesis Heart
Institute at the Genesis Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa.
Dr. Roberts also served as a clinical associate at the Cleveland Clinic
Foundation, a world leader in cardiac care and its approaches to
treatment of heart failure and end-stage lung disease. She served
as clinical faculty at Kansas University Medical Center, and co-director
of cardiac surgery services at Heartland Health Systems in St. Joseph,
Mo. There she co-led the start-up of an open-heart program and was
the Medical Director of Heart-link, a cardiac program regional
development project.
Dr. Roberts has served on the American Hospital Association workgroup
on readmission issues, Workforce on Internet Applications and
Communications for the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the Board of
Directors for Women in Thoracic Surgery, the Education Committee of the
Thoracic Surgery Foundation for Research and Education, and is a Senior
Examiner on the National Board of Baldrige Examiners.
Dr. Roberts received her medical degree in 1984 from the University of
Missouri-Kansas City. She completed a residency in general surgery
in 1989 at St. Luke's Hospital, in Kansas City, Mo., and a residency in
thoracic surgery in 1991 at University of Tennessee in Memphis.
She is board certified in surgery, thoracic surgery, and surgical
critical care, and is a certified physician executive.
