Priority Projects
Hospital Hill Oncology
Program Expansion and Facility Renovation
Patient demand continues to grow for TMC’s quality cancer care.
But the existing Oncology
Center is outdated and
crowded. Oncology services will soon be relocated to new
space, almost three times the size of the current Center. The
new Center will offer an even better experience for more patients,
including giving TMC patients access to the latest advancements in
cancer treatment. The $5M Oncology campaign goal includes ongoing
funding of Patient Navigator as well as a $500,000 operating
endowment.
Chronic Disease Management
An increasing number of TMC’s patients have chronic conditions,
and both medical and social factors interfere with their care,
leading to lower quality and higher cost. TMC’s innovative Guided
Chronic Careâ„¢ and Passport to Wellnessâ„¢ programs were created to
address these issues, and they specifically target low-income,
ethnically diverse patients.
An interdisciplinary team
works in both programs to address patients’ non-medical concerns
such as family and social support issues. The team mobilizes
community resources and advocates for patients at TMC and across
other systems and agencies.
Healing Arts
Art has long been known to aid in the healing process. This
unique TMC program presents a healing and soothing environment for
patients, visitors, and employees through various art activities.
These include the First Friday Concert Series, the Healing Arts
Gallery, and high-quality art on display throughout each hospital.
The Center for the Healing Arts addresses the emotional needs of
patients and families, as well as TMC’s caregivers.
Behavioral Health
TMC Behavioral Health provides comprehensive mental health and
substance abuse services to the people of Kansas
City
and Jackson County. In addition to community
support, vocational services and homeless programs, TMC also
provides an in-patient treatment and mental health emergency
department. Community support of TMC Behavioral Health
programs is realized through the annual Benefit at the
Bristol. Additional support is needed to
ensure TMC’s continued ability to meet the needs of the more than
16,000 patients served.
Women’s Services
TMC helps and encourages all women to
actively promote good health within their families. TMC’s
comprehensive women’s health programs combine education, clinical
care and research to meets the needs of Kansas City women of all
ages and stages of life. Philanthropic support of TMC ensures
innovative, comprehensive, multidisciplinary and integrated health
systems for women. TMC was recognized, along with UMKC School of
Medicine, as a National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health by
the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Essential Services/Uncompensated Care
TruFACES
Direct Patient
Care Fund:
Fundamental,
Accessible,
Compassionate,
Everyday
Services
As the largest provider of uncompensated care in Kansas City, TMC cares for a vast population
of patients who have little or no means to pay for their care. To
help provide essential services to the most vulnerable members of
the community, the Charitable Foundation created the TruFACES Direct
Patient Care Fund. Gifts to this annual fund go directly for the
care of TMC patients most in need of assistance, whether they are in
hospital beds or receiving ongoing and preventive care in outpatient
clinics.
