Patient Navigator Program
Patient navigators are specially trained to provide additional support to a patient’s family members who may need help through this challenging time. Our navigator’s help patients work through the health care system to eliminate barriers to care and provide ease of access to essential resources.
The Bloch Cancer Center navigators work closely with the patient’s medical team and social worker. They are an invaluable resource to guide and assist with a variety of matters such as program enrollment, emotional support, transportation assistance, reminder calls, and computer/resource room access.
Furthermore, our patient navigator program is pleased to be able to assist patients during their physical and emotional recovery. We offer wigs and specially designed bras for women who have undergone breast surgery. Our navigators have been trained by a certified program and will meet with the patient one-on-one in our private salon to select and fit a wig and/or bra of her liking.
The financial worry of a medical bill is a real worry for many of us and, not surprisingly, often causes a great deal of anxiety.
There are many questions a patient may ask:
- How much will it cost?
- How much will I personally have to pay for services?
- Are there flexible payment options and/or financial assistance?
Concern about a medical bill should never get in the way of getting cancer treatment. TMC provides the best quality care to everyone regardless of one's financial situation. TMC accepts most commercial insurance plans and if you are uninsured our dedicated Oncology financial counseler is prepared to become your guide and partner. Our financial counselor can see if you are eligible and assist you in applying for Medicare, Medicaid, the TMC discount, payment plans, and other options. Our financial counselor is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday by appointment and may be reached at 816.404.4375.
